Hi, I’m Matt
DJ, compere, event obsessive and the person behind events4.
What started with a set of speakers and my first gig back in 2009 has grown into events4 — providing entertainment, production and those all-important finishing touches for weddings, parties, corporate events and celebrations across the North West.
More than 17 years later, I still genuinely love what I do. Whether I’m filling a wedding dancefloor, hosting an awards night or transforming an empty venue ready for a party, there’s something pretty special about seeing months of planning come together.
How it Started..
Every business has to start somewhere. Mine started in a local Scout hut.
Back in 2009, my sister’s 8th birthday party became my very first gig. Armed with my first set of decks, bought with birthday money and cash I’d saved from my paper round, some speakers and a collection of music, I took charge of the tunes — with absolutely no idea that it would eventually turn into a career.
What started as birthday parties for family and friends quickly became more bookings, more equipment and much bigger events.
Over the years, I’ve gone from that first setup in a Scout hut to DJing and hosting weddings, parties, awards nights, corporate events and celebrations across the North West.
Along the way, events4 has grown into far more than just a DJ service, with everything from venue production and décor to photo experiences, dance floors, LED letters and more.
But it all started with one set of decks, one 8th birthday party and a Scout hut in 2009.
More than just a DJ
For me, a great event has never been just about the music. It’s about reading the room, bringing people together and making sure everything flows from start to finish.
Over the years, my role has grown from DJ to compere, host, event planner and, occasionally, chief problem solver! Whether it’s introducing speeches, hosting an awards ceremony, getting a reluctant dance floor moving or keeping an event running to time, I’m just as comfortable with a microphone in my hand as I am behind the decks.
That same approach has shaped events4 into what it is today. We can take care of everything from sound, lighting and entertainment to dancefloors, LED letters, photo experiences and venue décor, meaning fewer suppliers to organise and one team who understands the bigger picture.
Because the best events aren’t just played. They’re produced.
When I'm not behind the booth
There’s a pretty good chance I’m still doing something involving music, events or hospitality — I’m not very good at sitting still!
I’m the owner of Bytes in Westhoughton, where you’ll regularly find me hosting quiz nights, planning events or generally causing chaos. I also have regular DJ slots at The Bank Westhoughton and The Dragonfly, so if you fancy a sneak peek at what I do before booking me for your own event, why not pop in and catch one of my sets?
I’m also a member of various local committees, helping to organise community events around Westhoughton — because apparently I don’t know when to stop! From Christmas markets to community celebrations, I love being involved in making things happen locally.
And when I do eventually switch off, you’ll usually find me with my amazing partner Kel, Alfie — our Labrador × Golden Retriever — and Dosh the Staffie, neither of whom have the slightest interest in events4 unless there’s food involved! (The dogs, not Kel!!)
So whether you meet me behind the decks, hosting a quiz, organising a community event or out with the dogs, chances are I’ll still end up talking about the next event I’ve got planned.
